Cheap Travel to Hawaii

Hawaii is a unique island paradise that is a prime vacation destination for people around the globe.
I hope you have some knowledge about Hawaii. First-time visitors to Hawaii often find themselves planning their next trip back to this island paradise. And there's no debating that almost everyone would enjoy what the islands of Hawaii have to offer. Beautiful stretches of beaches, lush tropical forests, magnificent flowers, a rich cultural heritage, and glowing rivers of red-hot lava that pour into the sea.

Here is some information that I found about Hawaii
Hawaii Culture:
To many people, Hawaii culture brings to mind hula dancers in grass skirts and lei tradition. And Hawaiian history started with Captain Cook or even Pearl Harbor. You can travel to Hawaii with this in mind, but if not you still have the time of your life!

Hawaiian culture is the result of overlay after overlay of varied cultural groups. Hawaiian culture has Polynesian roots - Polynesians came to the Hawaiian Islands from Marquesas and established the first settlements (about 600-700 AD). These settlers brought with them their gods, their plants, their culture and their language. The second wave of migration came from the Society Islands. Then, in different times, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese and Korean arrived on Hawaii, and they also had some influence on Hawaiian culture.

Hawaiian language:
English and Hawaiian are the two official state languages in Hawaii. Hawaii language is only spoken by estimated 9 000 people, but 85 % of all local place names are Hawaiian. Hawaii language belongs to a family of languages from central and eastern Polynesia, which includes Hawaiian, Tahitian, Tumotuan, Rarotongan and Maori.

Hawaii's early immigrants communicated with each other in pidgin, a stripped and simplified form of English which survives today as a lively, ever-changing local slang.

Originating in Polynesia, Hawaii language is musical and sensuos. It is so rich in vowels that a face needs to smile to speak. The alphabet of Hawaii language has 5 vowels and 7 consonants. That mean it is the easiest phonetically system of the world's languages.
Many words came from the beauty of nature and joy of life. For example, aloha - the classic greeting of Hawaii - translates as "I recognize in you the breath of life".

Lei tradition
Lei making is the most beautiful forms of Hawaii culture. This lovely tradition of placing a flower garland around a neck of someone represents in the best way the Aloha spirit of Hawaii. There are many different types of lei - they range from a simple plumeria flower lei to the intricate feather lei. Ancient Hawaiians made lei for the neck, wrists and ankles. Now the neck and head lei are most widely used.

Hawaii legends
Hawaii is a land of myths and legends. Ancient Hawaiians lived in harmony with nature; they respected animals and natural phenomenons and imputed divinity to them. For example, they believed that the spirit of deceased ancestors moved to an animal to protect and guide the family. They call these spirits 'aumakua.

In the beginning of Hawaiian mythology, Po (land) was vast and empty. Only one life form dwelled. It was the spirit of Kea we. Then Kea we created sky and the sun, and the first gods: Kane and Na Whine. They gave birth to other gods: Ku, Lono, and Kanaloa.

Ku was the god of war, and also the god of woodlands and crops. Kanaloa was responsible for the southern Pacific Ocean, and, according to Hawaii legends, he helped seamen and fishers. Lono, as lord of the sun and of wisdom, caused the earth to grow green. As a god of medicine, he had a particular interest in keeping herbs and medicinal plants flourishing.

Among the major divinities were the goddess Papa, queen of nature, and the man she married, called Wakes? As Hawaii legends say, Papa and Wake’s first child was born deformed like a taro root. From the child's grave, the first taro plant grew to furnish sustenance to the rest of the human race, which had its origins in this first couple.

Living close to active volcano couldn't influence on Hawaii legends. One of the most striking characters of Hawaiian myths is pale, goddess of the volcano. According to the Hawaii legend, Pale came to Hawaii a long time ago, in the period, when the air was surrounded with spiritual beings and a thin veil divided the living from the dead, the natural from the supernatural.

Pale is volcanism in all its forms. Her poetic name is Ka whine `ai honua, the woman who devours the land. When her body moves, the land trembles and the sky are afire with a crimson glow. That is how ancient Hawaiians imagined the menacing power of volcano.
